Stanton Cross showed its support for this year’s 40th International Waendel Walk, providing a £1,000 donation which supplied the thousands of walkers taking part with their very own Stanton Cross branded reusable water bottle.
The annual event is the only internationally registered walk in the UK and attracts visitors from around the world. This year’s walk featured improved routes with choices from five, 10, 15, 25 and 42km for walkers of all ages and abilities. All routes travel across fields, footpaths and roads, whilst visiting places of interest and local villages in and around Wellingborough.
Throughout the weekend, the Castle Theatre hosted free entertainment with performances from the Wellingborough Music and Arts Centre and talented local musicians for participants and local residents to enjoy.
Paul Soutar, Bovis Homes divisional operations director, responsible for Stanton Cross, commented: “The Waendel Walk is a key date in the calendar for the Wellingborough community and we’re proud to once again be sponsoring this event. Thousands of people from across Northamptonshire and further afield take part in the Waendel Walk and it’s a fantastic opportunity to support our local community and the worthy causes it raises money for. As Stanton Cross continues to take shape, we hope to support more events like this.”
Julia Wells, Events Officer at Wellingborough Council, added: “The Waendal Walk is made possible thanks to the hard work of all the organisers and sponsors such as Stanton Cross. We’re extremely grateful to Stanton Cross for their donation which provided reusable water bottles to all our walkers, which came in handy for many! This year’s event was hugely successful, with entrants from as far as Australia and America. We want to thank everyone who participated and raised money for charity whilst doing so.”
