A bus service route has been extended to serve 3650 home Stanton Cross after developer funding was secured by Northamptonshire County Council.
The service 48 will now run hourly from Kettering to Wellingborough, passing through Barton Seagrave, Burton Latimer, Finedon, Irthlingborough, Stanton Cross, Roundhouse Way, Finedon Road, Eastfield Road and Midland Road.
Starting on Monday, February 24, the Stagecoach service will operate hourly throughout the day on Monday to Saturday, with the first bus to Wellingborough departing at 6.59am on weekdays and 6.37am on Saturdays. The last bus from Wellingborough will depart at 7.24pm.
The service 47 will continue to run from Finedon to Wellingborough.
The extended route, funded by the Stanton Cross developers, will serve the two new bus stops in Stanton Cross and one by the industrial estate on Roundhouse Way. New footpaths and cycling ways have also been created.
County Council Cabinet Member for Place, Highways and the Environment, Cllr Jason Smithers said: “The extended 48 bus service is a really positive development which will greatly benefit residents in Kettering, Wellingborough, and the new Stanton Cross estate.
“We are committed to improving and growing the bus network in the county and believe reducing car usage and providing more sustainable forms of transport is of the utmost importance.”
A single ticket from Stanton Cross to/from Wellingborough will cost £2.20, with a return ticket costing £3.90 and a day rider available for £4.20.
