A local charity in Wellingborough has seen its funding future secured for the next few years following a contribution of £1,000 from the Stanton Cross Community Award.
Earlier this year, Home Start Wellingborough were named as the fourth winners of the Stanton Cross Community Award, which is an initiative of Stanton Cross house builder Bovis Homes to provide vital support for Wellingborough’s local charities and community projects.
The award came at a crucial time for the charity, which had been facing uncertainty about its funding future. However, thanks in part to the money received from Bovis Homes, Home Start were able to prove that the charity had key support in the local community, which in turn led to further funding from two larger donors.
This cash boost is now helping the charity to continue its Consolidated Scheme, training volunteers to help around 40 families in the Wellingborough community, who face various issues, from isolation to domestic violence to mental health.
Tracey Witham at Home Start Wellingborough said:
“With the money we now have, we are able to support around 40 families a year with home-visiting volunteers who will visit the families weekly. We can also offer outings and events for the children of the families we support, as well as a small weekly group which helps parents gain confidence in their abilities.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Bovis Homes for their kind award and are grateful for the support they provided to help families in this community at a very difficult time.”
Paul Soutar, Bovis Homes Divisional Operations Director, responsible for Stanton Cross said:
“We are delighted to hear that the Stanton Cross Community Award has helped Home Start Wellingborough in securing vital funds over the next few years. The charity does some incredible work helping families in difficulty in Wellingborough and we are very proud to support them in this.”
