Wellingborough MP and Council Leader welcome first Stanton Cross homes

Peter Bone MP and Councillor Martin Griffiths have led a delegation of key stakeholders in marking the opening of the first new homes at Stanton Cross, one of Northamptonshire’s largest and most ambitious projects.

The event took place on Friday 21st September and was attended by the local MP and Council Leader, alongside representatives from Wellingborough Borough Council, local organisations and businesses, and members of the Stanton Cross development team.

Attendees were given the opportunity to look around the new show homes, part of lead developer Bovis homes’ Wendelburie Rise location. The homes are the first of a total of 3,650 that will be delivered as part of this brand-new community, in addition to new leisure and retail amenities, commercial space, a 143-acre country park, 3 schools and a doctor’s surgery.

Paul Soutar, Bovis Homes Divisional Operations Director, responsible for Stanton Cross, said: “We’re delighted that Mr Bone Councillor Griffiths and many others who have helped make Stanton Cross a reality, were able to join us to mark this hugely significant milestone.”

“The level of support we have received from the local community and its representatives has been fantastic and we look forward to working with them as we welcome our first residents in the near future.”

Peter Bone MP said: “I was thrilled to be invited to Stanton Cross to celebrate another major step forward in bringing the vision for this exciting new community to life. I look forward to meeting the people who will be moving into their new homes towards the end of the year and to seeing Wellingborough flourish as a result of the brand-new facilities and amenities that Stanton Cross will offer.”

Wellingborough Council Leader, Cllr Martin Griffiths added: “Earlier in the year, I was delighted to be invited to lay the first house brick at Stanton Cross, so to see these wonderful homes ready for the first of thousands of new residents is just fantastic”.

“It is an exciting moment as Council Leader to take part in yet another major milestone towards the vision for Stanton Cross which will see new homes, community facilities, new schools, businesses and jobs delivered in Wellingborough in the months and years ahead as our Borough continues to grow and prosper”.
